 Airtricity/SSE - Gordonbush Windfarm

Star Net will be carrying out a topographic survey for our client Airtricity/Scottish & Southern Energy at the the proposed Windfarm at Gordonbush in the Scottish Highlands. The survey includes 17km of proposed access roads and 35 proposed wind turbine locations.

 Fugro - Vessel Scan

Star Net have recently completed a vessrel scan of the Geo Prospector whilst in dry dock. Benefits of utilising a laser scanner to survey this vessel and the ability to provide information/dimensions/coordinates on any part of the vessel have conviced Fugro that this is the way forward.  Fugro/Siapem/Son Sub

Through its association with Fugro Survey Ltd Star Net have been awarded a number of High Definition scanning projects relating to offshore projects. Data captured using the Leica Scan Station was found to be of similar accuracy compared to traditional Dimensional Control techniques, but also providing more information and the ability to provide a 3D asbuilt model using Leica Cyclone software.

 Verification Surveys Central London

Star Net have been assisting a well known planning company with 3 dimensional verification surveys in Central London. As the industry leaders in photo verification control this coupled with the outstanding quality of rendered imagery confims their position as the leader in this field.

SSE Glen Liath / Foyers Power Station

Star Net will be carrying out a High Definition Laser scanning survey for our client Scottish & Southern Energy at the the Glen Liath water transfer tunnel. Major remedial works are planned for 120m of tunnel - Laser scanning will provide the engineers with very high quality data for the remedial works. Star Net will be using a Leica Scanstation to undertake this project.

SSE Toddleburn Windfarm Topographic survey

Star Net will be carrying out a topographic survey for our client Scottish & Southern Energy at the the proposed Windfarm at Toddleburn in the Scottish Borders. The survey includes 10km of proposed access roads and 12 proposed wind turbine locations.

 URS Corp Ltd/Stirling Developments - West Lothian Development Plan

Star Net have secured the ALMONDVALE topographic project totalling approx. 240ha for masterplan development in West Lothian. Star Net are proud to be assisting URS Corp/Stirling Developments with this project.

We are pleased to announce that Star Net have signed a framework agreement to provide Scottish and Southern with Topographic Services. Star Net already provide SSE with asset auditing and maintenance services within their Telecoms and Fibre business.

 Laser Scanning - The Future!!!

Star Net have been developing an asset scanning service primarily for the Telecom/Broadcast sector. We have recently purchased a Leica Scanstation and we are close to making an exciting announcement on contracts within these sectors !

Buckinghamshire Fire have commissioned Star Net to carry out similar spec measured building surveys as carried out in London - we must be doing something right!

 London Fire Brigade

The London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (LFEPA) are responsible for the Fire Service in London. Their portfolio consists of office, training, specialist facilities and 112 operational fire stations.

In June 2005 Star Net Geomatics were awarded 25 no. fire stations to provide professional services. The contract involved Topographic surveys, Measured surveys and Elevation surveys. In addition cross sections were required for each operational appliance bay. The typical turn around time for a station from initial survey to finished drawing is 1 week.

The Topographic and Elevation Surveys are being carried out using Trimble 5600 Total Stations. The Measured surveys are carried out using Psion Notebooks and Leica Distos.

The contract deliverables are 2D AutoCAD Drawings in electronic and hard copy format.

Additionally the contract drawings are referenced with Digital Photography for every room.

The contract is a very challenging one. Not only are LFEPA fire stations located throughout the M25 boundary, they are manned 24/7. This has presented Star Net with further complications, as every station had to remain "Live". By communicating with LFEPA and Station Commanders, Star Net has been able to survey every fire station with the minimum of disruption.
